Size Matters

How Much IS A Serving Anyway?

Was that "6oz" steak you had last night really the size of a collegiate textbook? How about the "teaspoon" of peanut butter you added to your protein shake today... was it more like a tennis ball? If you suspect your serving sizes are a little distorted, try to visualize the following:

3oz of meat, poultry, fish ---------------------> Palm of your hand
1 cup ----------------------------------------> Your fist
1 medium apple/orange, etc. -----------------> Tennis Ball
1 Teaspoon peanut/almond butter, etc. -------> Tip of your thumb
2 Tablespoons of above ----------------------> Ping-pong ball
1 ounce of cheese ----------------------------> Four Dice
1/2 cup pasta --------------------------------> Small fist
